Noch 100 Tage!

Unsere Spannung steigt...

100 days to go!

Our excitement grows...

Everything`s well and good, if you plan such a trip for years, but today there are only 100 days to go !!! The clock runs down relentlessly. We are getting nervous and excited, but no panic on the Titanic! A feeling between euphoria and Kacka in Büx (shit in the trousers)!

In addition to the huge joy that journey starts soon we wonder if it is really a good idea to start such an adventure: do we have enough money, will it be too cold in the Andes, will our CRFs make the whole journey? What happens if one of us gets really sick? These are all things that suddenly become much more real. It is and remains a powerful adventure (for us).

This will (maybe)be the last blog before departure, because there is still a lot to do.

State of things: The flights to Rio are booked. There we will spend a few days, to come into a travel mood and drink some Caipirinha. The flights from Rio to Santiago de Chile are also booked, as well as the transport of our CRF`s from Hamburg to Valparaiso (Chile). We will drive from Valparaiso to Paraguay (to visit a friend), the rest of the journey isn`t planned.

In the next few weeks and months, we have to do some maintance on the bikes, reduce the packing list, rent our apartment, find the best place for our animals, get a health insurance and more and more and more...

Gedanken

Thoughts

Today I would like to write a few lines about becoming a world traveler:

What I really really enjoy is the fact that I know a lot more about the world right now. This does not just apply to top hot spots such as Machu Picchu, Sala de Uyuni, Copacabana etc and general geographic knowledge - I am also much more familiar with the political situations and the way people live in other corners of the world -as before planning the travel. Already an added value for myself. Countless documentaries on Arte and 3 Sat (television) have left their mark. That these snapshots in "real life" probably can change is clear. Without that the journey has begun, I know in any case already much more than before.

It is also clear, that if the decision has been made to leave the familiar world for a year, there is no turning back. At least not for your own thoughts. There is so much to think about and to learn in the travel planning that it is no wonder that always new things comes to the your head, which must be clarified. I hope you understand what I mean?! By that I do not mean that we plan our journey perfectly , it is more about the micro-components, smallest particles that play a role in the preparatory world of thought for such a journey. Anyone who has dealt with something like this knows what I mean. One thing definitely happens: your horizon is enormously expanded, you can learn a lot and understand a lot!

Great, that we started this adventure 2 years ago!

Menschen

People

I would also like to mention that in this preparatory phase you can meet great people. Whether it is now at travel lectures (which you then, of course, constantly visit), where we met Klaus Hübner (http://www.klausmotorreise.com) and Daniel Rintz and Joey (https://www.open-explorers.com) or on the horizon Unlimited meeting in the "Pfalz" (southern part of Germany), where we besides various lectures as well acquaintance with many travelers. Where else can you talk for hours about the pros and cons of an inflatable air mattress? Only crazy people there!

It was also great to meet Cate (https://27laenderauf2raedern.de/), who explored the world with her 250cc CRF alone, as a woman. Beinbruch (broken leg) inclusive. Impressive.

Great is also the whole exchange, which runs on our homepage and facebook. Greetings to Nicki and Moe (https://www.moppedhiker.de), who are traveling in South America for 1.5 years and with whom we exchange more often. Like-minded, people who are planing trips and other interested have already wished us a great trip or initiated an exchange of information. Great!

Of course, it is also really good when it gets personal. So we have made friends with Stefanie & Lukas, Katja & marius (https://motogether.de), Lydia & Michi. All couples who want to explore the world in 2019 with their 250cc machines (or unfortunately wanted to).

We look forward to seeing you again!

Thanks also to our friends Henry and Geli, who have already invited us several times to coffee and cake due to our tough austerity policies.

Like you can see the preparation of such a journey is a tremendous enrichment.

So, we will pack now fast and prepare 1-2 things and the adventure starts!
Bye for now!
